The principle of a lot of Joe’s teaching and research is that our mental and emotional circuitry can be rewired and in fact must be rewired if we want to change our lives for the better. As he says: “Nerve cells that fire together, wire together.”

The guided meditations that go with the book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself lead you through a structured meditation program that will sustain change from the inside out.

This programme is very effective and does work. Not only do I use it myself but also recommend it to clients and friends as what is really excellent about it, especially for anyone familiar with meditation, is that it harnesses the power of the mind when it is at its most focused and still and uses that energy to change you, just as it promises, from the inside out.

The meditation I personally like and recommend to clients is the Body Parts – Space meditation. If you haven’t done any kind of mediation before then it would be best if possible to  do the four-week guided-meditation companion program along with reading the book.

If you don’t have the book, then listen to what Joe has to say above and in various youtubes and you will be able to follow the meditation.

How does it work?

Our unwanted habits, programmes and patterns exist in our subconscious minds and this meditation helps to access the subconscious operating system. Once there the meditation then helps you to set up a new ‘change’ programme and also helps you to imagine the life that you want to create.

By placing your awareness on different parts of your body ‘in space’ and on ‘the space around your body’, you learn to move from the analytical Beta brain-wave state to the Alpha state of relaxation and, from that place, develop your ability to sustain coherent brain-wave patterns and create new patterns.

The objective is to learn to stay present and make meditation a skill.

Is it easy?

For experienced meditators it is a different approach so takes a little getting used to but if you just listen and go along with the instructions you will see that it begins to work very quickly.

For those new to meditation, you have the benefit of no prior beliefs about meditation so it is just as simple as follow the instructions! Do what it says and you will get there. But I do recommend that you also listen to Joe speak about what he does and why it works to that you have a clear understanding of the process.

What do I use it for?

Anything and everything! I personally use it to work on health and staying on top of emotional and physical health. Also to keep in touch with life direction. I will work on a specific area of life at a time, whether career, focus, relationships and use it to fine tune the ‘vision’ that I see for the created end result and to also check in that I am still clear that what I am designing still feels right for me.
