An ingenious programme on the BBC health site allows you to calculate you BMI, then compare it to the average for your country as well as against global statistics.
The calculator is based on research data pulled together by researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
They conducted a study to see what the effect of the body mass increasing globally would have on the global food energy demands and their findings imply that increasing population fatness could have the same implications for world food energy demands as an extra half a billion people living on the earth.
